Valentines is all about the LOVE

I was blessed to spend Valentine's evening with one of my fave people, little Ilon Rain Roepke. She wasn't her usual perky self as she is working on some difficult teeth, but she loved her valentine's balloon and wopped it up and down with vigor. I even got some roses from my son in law which smell so sweet. Today I get a belated Valentine's date with my main squeeze, Mr Dean, with a drive to the lake and a dinner out. I am thankful for all the LOVE.

Waiting and Lent

Dean and I are in a season of "waiting on the Lord", (really aren't we always in this season?) and I read a quote that made me laugh; "I took a course in speed waiting. Now I can wait an hour in only ten minutes." Author: Steven Wright

So, what did you give up for lent this year?
I gave up Fear. No really, I did. That is what I felt like God was asking of me. It made me fearful just to think of it...
(Now, I know that the Fear of the Lord is good, but that earthly fear does not come from the Lord. I have been amazed at how many times fears come to my mind and my imagination takes off running and I have to bring myself back to his words of truth. He knows me well. Speaking His words out loud helps me.) ... one of my daughters gave up desserts, one gave up hours spent on Facebook and Myspace, and my son in law gave up meat.
I guess it isn't so much what you give up, but that you are intentional about giving something up for this 40 days which makes you think of God, rely on Him more, and practice sacrificing. Such a small thing in comparison to His Great Gift.

Free

Free at Last! Praise God almighty, he's free at last!
The doctor released Dean from all of his restrictions and he can now go about his life as normal. He was seen crossing the street going to the gym with a huge grin on his face. Clean shaven and a bit gimpy, but overall, looking really good.

Mr Gimp does the Count Down

5 more days till Dean gets to ride in the car, go to the doctor for his follow up appointment, and hopefully be released back into a normal life following 6 weeks of recovery from hip replacement surgery! His therapist told him he could go down our stairs and take short walks around our courtyard, which in Dean's mind meant, walk two blocks to the Starbucks ( he's been going through withdrawals and note how empty it looks without him). We are ready to get out and about and be in community again!
